After a record number of 37 women's death at the hands of their partners in Namibia in 14 months, and 12 similar cases from January to February this year - Namibian Head of State Hifikepunye Pohamba declared 06 March 2014 a National Prayer Day. Please join us in this noble task tomorrow, whether you are in Namibia or overseas.

Namibia marks another historic day tomorrow, Thursday 06 March 2014.

Death of women by their partners/spouses of ex boyfriends has been a concern in Namibia. Although nationals are busy trying to find out what the exact cause of this evil is, some have speculated that root causes range some cultural norms and values that seem to have been devaluated. For instance, some cultural groups complained that young women now cohabitate with their lovers, which was not allowed in the past. Some accused women of having been supported by their partners and when they want to leave them because of their difference that might have stemmed from relationship -based challenges, their male partners tend to be violent to the extend of killing them. Others opinions include the fact that male dominance in some communities regardless of the modern equality trends also are attributed to some of the incidents as some men would not even want to be challenged by a female in any way. But despite all these questions, views and speculations, the nation is yet to come to common factors that triggered the butchering of the said women most of whom were either hacked with pangas, kitchen knives or shot dead. And while stricter court sentences are deemed as a solution, Namibia being dominantly a christian country has taken a stand to go on their knees tomorrow. One of the latest cases recorded today was different from the rest of the cases - as in this one, the 24 year old woman killed her former boyfriend by reportedly having cut him with a broken glass and died at his home after he lost a lot of blood and there seemed not to have been anyone close by to help me - as he was said to have died near his car seemingly trying to go for help. In two of the incidents, with one having taken place this week - children of four and three years witnessed the death of their mothers by their fathers. In both of the cases, their mothers were left with a panga and a knife stuck in their heads respectively. In Monday, 03 March's case, the three year old pleaded with his father not to kill his mom, but to no avail. That child was said not to have uttered a word since Monday and only spoke by last night, asking if his mom was in heaven. In the other case, the four year old after having witnessed her mom being butchered with a panga, she ran to a nearby house to inform an uncle about her mom being killed in cold blood. One can just imagine the trauma these babies have gone through. It is an untold and strange story currently happening in Namibia.

Although tomorrow is not a national holiday, various political regional governors are tasked to coordinate the prayer events in their country with the main event taking place at the Sam Nujoma Stadium in Katutura in Windhoek. Most of the national and community as world as spiritual and faith leaders will converge on that stadium.

Tomorrow's prayer could be a big unifying event, binding all faiths together, bringing all leaders together irrespective of their ideologies or political parties. It's going to be the moment to remember in the Namibian history. This event is taking place, two days before International Women's Day, 08 March 2014, a day dedicated to celebrate the bravery of women, their achievements and advancement - but also their suffering through many aspects such as the gender based violence.

My question to you to night it, are you going to be part of the prayer sessions tomorrow, from wherever you would be, whether in your house, at the office, or in your room. What message are you preparing to send to the Creator during the prayer time tomorrow? What do you want to Lord to do for the Namibian Nation and women in general? How do you want many of our men and even women to behave after prayer? Prepare yourself right now - so that you are clear on the praying option tomorrow.

I am also doing the same, and will definitely be on my knees - remembering the women who were slain in cold bold - praying for their souls to rest in eternal peace - in Jesus name we pray - amen.
