Some of Namibia's amazing people and places that put the country's name on the world map - Remember Frankie Fredericks the Sprinter then and Miss Universe 1992, Michelle McLain?? Heard of Shiloh Jollie-Pitt's birth birth town? Yes, it is in Namibia....

Apart from its Natural beauty, contrasting geographic area which earned it the title of three countries in one, diverse cultures and hospitable people, Namibia is known for some of the following facts:

1. Namibia's Founding Father, Dr Sam Shafiishuna Nujoma, the then President of SWAPO who led Namibia to obtain its political freedom in 1990 and immediately paved the way for National Reconciliation. For a country to prosper or to be able to attract tourists and be conducive to a number of environments, it had to be peaceful, stable and a certain degree of growth, that's why it is key to mention the leader of the former Liberation Struggle Movement, SWAPO and the efforts made to achieve freedom which was the prerequisite of today's peaceful environment. Namibia's current President, Hifikepunye Pohamba has succeeded Founding President Nujoma.

2.Namibia's then Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, currently one of the top diplomats and Advisor to both the Head of State and Prime Minister, Tuliameni Kalomoh who represented Namibia as the Political Affairs Assistant Secretary General for Kofi Annan at the United Nations then. Ambassador Kalomoh was also assigned to the settling of the Madagascar Presidential Election Challenge recently which saw President Hery Rajonarimapianina sworned in recently.

3. Namibia is the birth place of Shilo Jolie-Pitt, the daughter of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, born at the Cottage Private Hospital in Tamariskia residential area, Swakopmund at Namibia's West Coast. Swakopmund is my home town. Shilo is actually from my own home town although born by international parents and lives abroad. Shiloh was born in the first town in Africa to host the Adventure Travel World Summit, Swakopmund. The visit of Angelina and Brad says so much about Namibia's travel adventure complemented by its peace, stability and democracy..

4. Miss Namibia 1991 and Ms Universe 1992, Michelle McLean is from Namibia. She remains Namibia's Ambassador and international Media Personality to date, always carrying the torch of Namibia with her..

5. Frankie Frederick, the World Sprinter in 100 and 200 metres then is the son of the soil, and remains a key personality among the World Olympic Committee Circles and at home in Namibia.

6. Johanna Benson, who recently won a gold medal from the Paralympic games in UK is from Namibia's West Coastal Town of Walvis Bay, 30 km from where Jolie and Brad's Shiloh was born (in Swakopmund).

7. One of the world boxing champion, Harry "The Terminator" Simon then is from the Land of the Brave, also from Walvis Bay.

8. 2013 Big Brother Africa Winner, 24 year old Dilish Matthews is from Namibia's capital city WIndhoek. Dillish injected 300 thousand US dollars cash into the country's economy after she won the reality TV show in August this year - after staying for three months in a house with various african competitors.

9. Ms Malulu, Namibia's contestant in the Africa Tourism Pageant who also put the country's name is from the Land of the Brave

10. Namibia is currently also holding the title of Junior Minister of Tourism in the SADC region which was snatched by a 15-year old gent from the land of the soil..

11, And talking about putting Namibia's name of the map, this blogger (author) used to report for the CNN World Report during her active journalism years, therefore putting Namibia's name on the international peak especially regarding developmental regarding progress and challenges then.

There are actually more amazing personaities and heroes/heroines that added to Namibia's international fame blocks.
